1942 - 2009
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Lois Dorothy Salikin at the age of 67, on September 12th, 2009 in the Foothills Hospital. She passed away peacefully with her loving husband and her 3 children at her side.
Lois was born May 6, 1942 in Edmonton to Robert and Dorothy Paulus. On August 4th, 1962 she married Stan and moved to Estevan, Saskatchewan, where they adopted their 2 oldest children, Patricia and Peter. The family later moved to Prince George, British Columbia, where their youngest daughter Kathleen was born in 1977. Shortly after, they moved to Kimberley, British Columbia, where she lived for the next 32 years. She spent 24 of those years working very hard as an owner of Macleod's - True Value Hardware, and as a director of the Food Bank. After retiring in 2001, she had more time to spend doing all the things she really enjoyed such as cooking, baking and traveling, especially to Mexico. She took great pride in being the coordinator for the weekly Food Bank Bingo and volunteering her time in the community. Spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends brought her extreme happiness. She will always be remembered for her passionate and caring ways. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Dorothy Paulus and grandson, Jonathan Elliott.
She is survived by her husband Stan, son Peter Salikin , daughters Patricia Elliott and Kathleen Wright, brother Bobby (Yvonne) Paulus, sisters Maureen (Larry) Klem and Joan (Mike) Biggs. As well as many nieces, nephews and grandchildren: Jade, Nichole, Jacqueline, Mitchell, Samantha, Logan and Justin.
