Obituary of Rosaleen Carmel Kerr

(nee Smith)

1916 - 2010

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rose Kerr on February 17, 2010 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital, after a very short stay with pneumonia and complications which she succumbed to, at 93 years of age. She was fully alert with family present until she went peacefully asleep.

Rose was born on November 10, 1916 in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest daughter of 4 children. She loved Irish dancing and singing and ballroom dancing - and she loved the life of Dublin.

She married Ambrose in Dublin on January 28, 1937 and moved to the west coast of Ireland where they had 6 children. They emigrated to Kimberley, British Columbia on June 27, 1956. She and Ambrose joined various singing groups in Kimberley. Rose worked a short time at the Kimberley Hospital. She was totally dedicated to her family, loved to have grandchildren and great grandchildren come to visit.

Rose leaves to mourn her passing, her six children: Paul (Margaret), Rosaleen, Peter (Maureen), Ann (James), Robert (Jan), Ambrose Jr. and daughter-in-law Diana; 13 grandchildren: Deborah, Robert, Jim, Paul, Kevin, Denise, Nuala, Chris (B), Rosanne, Shawn, Chris (K), Jason and Emma; and 16 great grandchildren. Rose was predeceased by her husband Ambrose in 2008, her granddaughter Stephanie in 1972, two sisters, and one brother.

Prayers will be held for Rose at Sacred heart Roman Catholic Church in Kimberley on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 7:00 pm. Her funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Kimberley. Her Interment will be in Kimberley Cemetery.
