The world has lost an amazing man. Dr Harris was a kind, compassionate and dedicated coworker and friend. He was a whirlwind of energy, funny, caring and selfless, and always had time to listen. I have many great memories of working with him at St Mary's Hospital.

Floyd’s passion for medicine and pathology was inspiring. He even came out of retirement to help assist me with autopsies. As a young pathologist in my first year of practice, I was a bit unsure of myself and found myself thrown into a higher level of workload and responsibility than I was sure I was ready for. He was so encouraging and supportive, helping me grow in confidence and treating with such respect and professionalism. His love for teaching and expertise was so appreciated, and I learned quite a bit! It was a lovely time hearing his stories and some of the history of the department. He never failed to make me laugh!

Floyd was always willing to lend a helping hand if someone needed it. We celebrated our birthdays together for a few years as they were only days apart. He enjoyed gardening and farm animals. I remember one time he was hauling a load of hay and he didn't have it secured good and when we went around a corner on the back road the top half of the load of hay toppled onto the road. Some bales broke. It was quite a mess but Floyd was never one to lose his temper. Instead we laughed about it. Piled it back on the truck, tightened it up and continued on our way. Have a good journey home my old friend.
