So sorry to hear of Hector's passing, he and Sheri were great friends, Hector's smile I will never forget. I first met Hector in June of 1977 when I started working at Capital Plastics in Surrey B.C. at 18 years old. Hector was my mentor, a big brother figure at work and in life, I recall some deep conversations about life in general, Hector was a dear friend whom I will always remember for his infectious laugh and great sense of humor. He and Sheri were very close, he looked after her as her health deteriorated and was always by her side. Now they are together again. To Grant and Greg and your families, your Dad and Mom are never far from my thoughts, they were both fine upstanding people who would help anyone. Kind regards, love and light - Brian Mitchell

As neighbors, we had become great friends and consider Hector & Sheri as family. He was the only person I know of that would drink red wine (grappa) and coffee together in the same cup. Over the years, we shared many things; tools, recipes, stories of farm life and what it takes to raise two boys. Hector's distaste for chocolate matched our oldest son's, and his love of lemon matched mine. I would always make 2 lemon loaves and send 1 his way. I would joke that I had a chocolate cake & he would never complain. He was always very appreciative once he realized it was lemon. We had different sized pressure canners, which we shared. He would put on his apron at Sheri's request and roll up his sleeves, working tirelessly to create many memories around food as well as smoked salmon and other creations. One time, we made spaghetti for 200 + people. Both of our boys cherished him, eventhough they moved away, when they came to town, they would look forward to visiting him with an update of their lives. Living across the street, he always arrived smiling when his dog would bring home a leg from an animal that was being skinned in our shop. One time, Al asked how he knew when we got something? Hector said, "come over, I'll show you" There was something like 27 elk, moose or deer legs on his lawn that his dog Zena covetted. Hector just laughed as his dog was happy. He smiled and said "it's been a good year for you". Al and I as well as our 2 boys are going to miss his wise words and kind heart and giving nature. We are comforted knowing he is with Sheri now and no longer in pain. I know he will have a rum waiting for us the next time we see him.
Our condolences: Al, Nancy, Jessy and Cody Collings.

It’s hard to believe that my memories of Hector go back at least 60 years, back to the time he was dating my sister. The earliest was when Hector took Jim and Don Thompson and myself for a ride in his brand new hot car. If my memory serves me right we were travelling down the highway at around 100 miles an hour. When dropping us off at home, he said don’t tell anyone what we just did. Jim and Don ran home ( they just lived next door to us )all excited and told their mother, I can still remember Pearl Thompson come out of their house, yelling at Hector.
Another Jasper memory was when Hector told me he had bought Sherry a hairdryer for Christmas, but I was to keep it a secret. So I told her I know what you’re getting for Christmas but I am not going to tell you, but as a little brother I gave her a hint you can dry your hair with it!!!!! I think Hector wanted to kill me laugh out loud.
I could go on, and on from Vancouver Island, the wedding, Surrey the (mushroom farm), Abbotsford (The Big Farm), Brandner (raspberry, cedars and raising kids) and the last move to Cranbrook, where they lived in a little motorhome while building their new home in three stages.
There were and still so many great memories over the past 60 years.
The best memory that I have is how Hector loved, and cared for my sister, and I thank God, knowing that they are together in Glory. Praise the Lord.
Thank you again Hector

We will always remember with great admiration his selfless loving care for his wife. He would stop everything in a moment and go to her. He was always ready, wiling to help snd care for others in need as well, Cheerfully, showing respect to everyone. I remember he was quick to tear up. I marvel how well he did in life despite his rough up bringing. He did well.
