My memories of Mr. Olmsted were that he was a very patient teacher who was dedicated in helping us learn. Many afterschool hours were spent reviewing and studying for the provincial exams under his guidance. He was a wonderful teacher. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Olmsted and family.

I was taught by Mr Olmsted back when you were lucky to have been taught by the Selkirk Science greats- himself, Mr. Ansell and Mr. Johnson. He had a wonderful sense of humor and really cared how we were doing in his class. Lots of laughs with experiments & Bunsen burners ! In grade 11 I missed over a month of school. Once home from hospital, he spent two weeks after school helping me catch up to my classmates. I haven't forgotten his kindness. My condolences to Mrs Olmsted, Valerie & family

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Bill. He was a wonderful friend and we had so much respect for him. The twinkle in his eyes can never be forgotten. We have had numerous good times with Bill and Jill - including meetings in St John's, Edmonton and North Wales - and we just missed them in Barcelona. Good times not to be forgotten. In recent years we exchanged some challenging jigsaw puzzles. They taught us that a 1000 piece puzzle could be a lot more difficult than we had ever imagined. We will miss him.

Bill was a superb teaching colleague, a thoughtful and considerate companion on many outdoor adventures, an excellent and safe backcountry skier, and a good friend. He contributed a lot of time and labor to Alki and Pyramid creek trail work. You may hear his quips in the distance next time you are out there!
