In Loving Memory of Dana Harrison
(June 16, 1971, to December 22, 2024)
Dana unquestionably took the crown for the world's cutest kid! Just one look at her cheesy grin and that mischievous sparkle in her eye, and you were instantly won over. This held true throughout her life.
If you knew Dana, you knew that she was part mermaid - well that’s how we would describe her. She truly loved being in the water. Remembering our yearly Christina Lake camping trip, Dana would be found swimming and splashing around. If it wasn’t for our mom coaxing her out to eat & sleep - she would have happily preferred to eat & sleep in the shallows if given the chance. In her teen years it was awe-inspiring to see her gracefully performing the butterfly stroke at our regional Swim Meets. She particularly loved the competitions in Castlegar & Colville, WA.
Her spirit of competition was always shining through, whether it be volleyball, basketball, badminton, bocce, and any other sport. Every game was an opportunity for greatness, and everyone longed for a spot on her team during 'games night'. Playing alongside her always felt like being a part of a champion's team!
We all adored her sparkling wit and quick responses that were always on point. Yet, it was her brave honesty during uneasy situations that truly defined her. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and relieved even during challenging moments. Her humour was truly a beacon of light in any conversation. Her sisters, Shannon & Robyn, were huge fans of her entertaining and sometimes quirky remarks that always managed to bring out laughter, even in the toughest situations.
Dana, with a heart big enough for every dog she met, was undoubtedly a passionate dog lover. Just one look from her, and even the shyest pups would wag their tails in excitement. She was a dog-whisperer of sorts - instantly building a connection with any furry friend she crossed paths with. Her mobile phone was a treasure trove of thousands of adorable dog photos, and many funny dog videos she discovered were shared with her family & friends to brighten their day!
Our hearts are filled with so much warmth as we think of all the love Dana brought to those around her. She will forever live on in the hearts of her beloved mom, Pat, her loving sisters Shannon & Robyn, Walter, her supportive brother-in-law, and her adoring niece Kaity. We also cannot forget her furry nephew Oakley, who will especially miss her. Her memory will continue to inspire us all.
We like to imagine Dana, living out her dream, surrounded by every dog she ever met, including our beloved family dog Sandy and Thor doggy. We wholeheartedly believe she's now enjoying her new life, amidst her old and new cuddly companions.
We ask that you do not send flowers, but rather donate to the BC SPCA East Kootenay in Cranbrook, BC.
We are having a joint ‘Celebration of Life’ for Dana and her dad, Ol’ Mikey (Mike Harrison) on Saturday, March 22 from 1pm to 4pm at Kimberley's Centennial Centre. Please bring your favourite stories about Dana to share with us.
