Obituary of Stanley Buchar

Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stanley Buchar, known to his friends as Paddy, left this world on January 27, 2025. Born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1953, Paddy embodied a rare and unwavering spirit that touched everyone he met.

A dedicated miner by trade, Paddy spent his career with dirt on his hands and determination in his heart. Outside the mines, he wore many hats: boxer, carpenter, furniture restorer, artist, and hockey enthusiast. Whether he was lacing up his skates, coaching from the sidelines, or crafting something beautiful alongside his wife, Paddy poured his passion into everything he did. His values and morals never swayed, and his strength is his legacy.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. Paddy was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, and a proud grandfather. He was a loyal brother, a cherished fishing buddy, a masterful joke-teller, an avid gardener, and an enthusiastic copper hunter. He lived a life rich with connections and made everyone around him feel valued.

Paddy is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen “Kelly” Allen, who was his partner in life, his best friend and his soul mate. He is also survived by his children, daughter Chase Meridian and her husband Levi Williams. His son Caleb Prest and his wife Nicole Prest alongside his adored grandchildren, Ember and Enzo Prest, who were his pride and joy. Not to mention the many extended family members who filled his days with so much love and so many laughs.

Paddy’s heart of gold wasn’t something he was born with—it was something he painstakingly unearthed throughout his life. He worked tirelessly to piece together the love and happiness he knew he deserved, and in the end, he shared all that he had found with those he loved most. Being part of his journey to self-discovery was an honor beyond words. He was the hardest working man any of us have ever known, and his work ethic is something we will all strive for.

Paddy was proud of his family, and every moment he spent with them was a treasure. Though his absence leaves an unfillable void, we will carry forward his legacy by continuing to seek out the gold in ourselves and the world around us, just as he did. Rest easy, Paddy. You will be missed beyond measure and loved beyond words.

Special thanks to Dr. Ryan Lunge and his team as well as Kim, Stephanie and Kathie of the Kimberley Home Care team for exemplary service and their compassion during a difficult time for our family.
