My sincere condolences, Rose. Mario was a true gentleman. I so enjoyed when the two of you visited my parents here in Trail. The visits were always filled with a lot of talk and laughter and of course Mom’s food. Stay strong. You have many years of memories. God Bless. Elizabeth Morelli Johre.

Uncle Mario was such a wonderful person. I remember when I was a kid he visited us in San Diego and would do fun things with me. He would take me fishing and teach me techniques to be better at soccer and baseball. Anything I was into he was into. He was such a supportive uncle. I also can't forget when my family visited Cranbrook and he made the trip so memorable. We hiked to gather saskatoon and huckleberries, he introduced me to Rocco and Dave and went fishing in the Canadian wilderness where I was chased by a bull and stepped on a snake nest. Thank you Uncle Mario for the great childhood memories!

Rose, we send our hugs and condolences. May you have the love of family and community around you during this difficult time. Mario was a kind, funny, strong, and generous man and a good friend to our whole family, and especially our Dad. Growing up with the two of you as neighbours meant that Mario was part of some of my earliest happy childhood memories. In many ways he was a role model for me, as I'm sure he was for everyone around him. We will miss him deeply.

Q: What will you never forget about Mario?
A: Uncle Mario! You will always be the most tallest uncle with a great bear hug! The giant! When you, auntie Rose would visit I couldn’t wait for all the Italian cooking and stories. The best story was when you brought cousin Nancy! She sure brought tons of energy to you both! “She’s alive!” That’s what you said when one of us kids finally woke up and came downstairs. Loved all the fish plucked out of the icy lake, reindeer sausage, and antipasto! I learned you take old hard bread, run it through water, and toast it again! The cheese, too! Molto delicious! The homemade vino was a hit! Thank you for coming and see you in eternity on His time. Amen! -Cindy, Sun Diego
