Kenneth Olson

Obituary of Kenneth Cameron Olson

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Ken Olson is saddened to announce his passing on January 25th, at the age of 72.  Born in Maryfield, Saskatchewan, raised in Virden, Manitoba, Ken moved to Cranbrook with his family as a teenager.

Throughout his life, Ken enjoyed many pursuits including hunting, golfing and spending time at Kootenay and Moyie lakes.  A proud achievement of his was obtaining his private pilot’s licence. He spent countless hours in his “happy place” flying a Cessna 182. Ken cherished his yearly vacations in Mazatlan and the family vacation to Cancun.

Family was at the heart of Ken’s life.  He treasured the time spent together, with the Olson home often serving as the gathering place for many special events over the years.   Ken’s turkey dinner, featuring his special dressing and prime rib were always favourites at these meals.

Ken will be missed by his wife Chris, and sons Tyler(Lauren) and Brett(Leanne). His cherished grandchildren Kenzie, Avery, and Kohen, will miss their “Papa.” Ken is also survived by his brother David(Audrey) and sister Karen(Aurele).  He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Margaret.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. G. Simons and the staff at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, there will be no service.  As Ken had a deep love for animals, the family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the BC SPCA in Cranbrook.
