Please share a memory of Duncan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Duncan Arthur Ridler was born February 18th, 1947 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, spending most of his younger years in Transcona, although he had fond memories of a few years living in La Val West, Quebec. In Winnipeg he joined the Royal Canadian Navy, trained
and served as a Fire Fighter in CFB Shearwater, Nova Scotia, CFB Penhold, Alberta, HMCS Provider, Victoria, CFB Comox, BC before leaving the Service and moving his family to Cranbrook, continuing his career as Fire Fighter at Cranbrook Regional Airport Firehall until it was closed.
He spent many years as Security/Maintenance in the Cranbrook Mall before running his own Janitorial business, his main and most long running clients being FW Green and Cranbrook Dental Clinics before retiring in 2019 due to on going health issues. He met his wife Patrica (Wright) while in Penhold and they were married 54 years. Duncan loved his family deeply and was very protective and proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered by them as a man who laughed often, was strong willed and stubbornly determined especially in recent years as he fought his final battles with cancer and dementia.
Duncan is survived by his wife Patricia, son Michael (Michelle), grandson Nathan, his
daughter Christy (Shawn), granddaughter Abriella, his brother Stewart (Sarah), sister Mavis (son Ken) and many nieces, nephews and extended families.
He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Ester Ridler
Duncan's family will be holding a small private gathering later this year.
