Obituary of Wayne Cecil McNamar

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wayne Cecil McNamar passed away peacefully on Saturday February 8th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne died at peace with his family around him at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital. He was born on May 11th, 1939, in Nipawin Saskatchewan to Father Cecil and Mother Beatrice. Following graduation Wayne served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 3 years before pursuing a career in Administration where he became very proficient and served in the public service sector for various districts and cities for the remainder of his life. He started his career working for the City of Kimberley in 1963. Following that he served the fine people of Mckenzie as the towns Administrator. He finished his career in Cranbrook as the administrator for the Regional District of East Kootenay from 1979 To 1997.

Wayne lived life to the fullest enjoying the simple things like camping and playing music with his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Faye, two children, Boyd and Trina, as well as two brothers Donald and Allen and a sister Beryl. Wayne will be missed and thought of fondly as the family gathers for holiday celebrations or around the campfire to strum a guitar or sing a song. His 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and cousins will hopefully carry on the traditions he held dear.

In lieu of a traditional funeral the family will be holding a celebration of life around the campfire this spring. Wayne wanted the family to get together and sing a song and just reminisce and chat like old times.
