It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Laura Robertson. Laura was born on July 11, 1970 in Cranbrook, B. C. and passed away peacefully at home on the morning of February 18, 2025.
Laura lived in Cranbrook her whole life, surrounded by her close-knit family and lifelong friends. She worked many jobs around Cranbrook, until finding her calling as an insurance underwriter at Falkins, where she stayed for close to 30 years.
In 1988, Laura graduated from Mount Baker Secondary School and went on a band trip to Germany, Austria, and Italy, which kick-started her lifelong love for traveling. Over her life, she travelled to 8 different countries, her favorite being warm, tropical places.
Laura met the love of her life David Robertson in 1996, later getting married on April 3, 1999. In the year 2000, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Megan. In 2001, they welcomed their second child, a son named James.
Laura loved supporting the extra curricular activities of her children, often waking up early for practices and traveling long distances. Laura and Dave’s greatest passion was being together with their kids. Some of Laura’s favorite things in life to do were boating, swimming, reading, meeting up with friends, and crafting. Laura also had both a passion and talent for music. She was a lifetime member of the Scandinavian Lodge. Laura made a special connection with many dogs throughout her life, notably Taffy, Farley, and Finn. Laura was well known for her intelligence, and wicked sense of humor, and her quick wit.
Since 2020, Laura has been fighting numerous health issues. She showed her family and friends her great strength, determination, and her zest for life with her years long health battle. She was an inspiration to many people.
Laura’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to everyone who stepped up to take special care of Laura when she needed it the most. Ed and Linda, David, and the many physicians, pharmacists, and paramedics who treated her with such tender care and dignity.
Laura is survived by her husband of 26 years, David Robertson, her children Megan Pretty (Jack), James Robertson (Jenna), her parents Ed and Linda Holmberg, her sister Sandra Dunn (Travis), brother and sister in law Ross Robertson and Lynette Wray, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and many special friends.
A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held at the Scandinavians of East Kootenay Viking Lodge (2720 4 Ave S, Cranbrook, BC) on Saturday April 5th, 2025, at 1:30 PM.
