Obituary of Gerald Edward Meier
Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerry on March 1 2025, surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer. Gerry loved life to the fullest. He loved family & friends, adventures, building houses & garages, & travelling to Mexico. Gerry was an avid sports fan of hockey. He cheered loud & proud for the Calgary Flames. He enjoyed coaching his boys in baseball & hockey & helped them build decks & home improvement projects over the years & he enjoyed dirt biking, quadding snowmobiling & boating with his grand children.
Gerry was a skilled plumber/pipefitter who had his own plumbing business during the early 1980's. Gerry then moved on and worked for the Calgary Zoo for seven years as a maintenance plumber, this was a great fit as he had a love for animals with a soft hand. Gerry's career then leaped frogged him into a Calgary City Plumbing Inspector. Gerry's next journey in plumbing was a Superintendent constructing the "Bow Tower" which at the time was the tallest building in western Canada. The last stop in Gerry's 40 plus year career in the plumbing industry was working in Northern Alberta and Calgary Area in several industrial oil and gas plants. Gerry was a proud member of local 496 Union Plumbers & Pipefitters Association.
