Obituary of Jean Josephine Lund
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean Josephine Lund announce her peaceful passing at her home in Cranbrook, BC on February 27, 2025 at the age of 101.
Jean was born in Cranbrook on November 25, 1923, as the seventh and youngest child of Joseph and Teresa Naso. She met Alfred Lund of Canoe, BC, while they both worked for CP Rail.
They quickly hit it off, and Al moved to Cranbrook to be near Jean. They married a year later, in 1944.
For more than 70 years, Jean lived in the home that she and Al built, where she raised her children Mik and Terry, cared for her grandchildren, and welcomed countless friends and family.
Her door was always open and her table was always ready with a home-cooked meal or snack.
Jean had an amazing memory and keen intelligence. She was unfailingly generous, and took pleasure in commemorating birthdays and every holiday with cards, gifts and baked goodies.
Jean is survived by her son Miki (Tina) Lund and daughter Terry Matthews; her grandchildren Jody, Katrina, Jamie and Rebecca, seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren,
as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Alfred, her six siblings Carmela, Tony, Pete, Rose, Sam and Mary, and her granddaughter Dawn.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cranbrook, followed by interment at the Cranbrook Roman Catholic Cemetery. A Reception will follow at McPherson Funeral Home.
