Obituary of Peter Edward Wonitowy

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved father. Peter passed away knowing the love of each and every one of his devoted family. He is survived by his sister Nadine (George) Froese, daughter Nadine (Willie) Brown, sons Peter (Angela) Wonitowy and Michael, grandchildren Cory and Shyanne Brown, Kristopher (Tayla) Wonitowy, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his wife "Margie" of 63 years of marriage, his parents John and Mary (Kaschak) Wonitowy, brothers Melvin, Johney, and Vladimir Wonitowy, and sister Natalie Wallace.

Pete was an inventor who loved to fix or create new things, but his real passion was golf. Even being on oxygen 24/7, he was still up for a game with his family, knowing that he would probably win.

After a military career of over 30 years as an aircraft tech, he still worked with and around aircraft and did aircraft maintenance. He built a gyrocopter and shared his love of flying with his son. Flying was a part of him throughout his life.

Fly high, Pete! Until we meet again.

A funeral mass for Peter will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cranbrook (39-10th Ave S.) on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11 am. Interment will follow at the Cranbrook Catholic Cemetery.
