Obituary of Clive Syvertsen
Please share a memory of Clive to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Clive Syvertsen was born in Lancashire, England (Colne) in February 1937 to Martha and George Syvertsen. He received all of his schooling and completed his painting apprenticeship there. At the age of 19, he was conscripted into the British army and spent most of his service time in Malaysia.
After returning from Malaysia, Clive met and later married his wife Elfriede, in 1962. They welcomed their first child, Karen, later that year. In 1968, the family immigrated to Cranbrook, where Clive worked as a painting contractor for Parkland Painting until his retirement.
In May of 1969, Clive and Elfriede had twins, Mark and Melanie. Clive received Canadian citizenship in 1973. He had many hobbies and a deep love for nature and animals, which was reciprocated by the creatures he adored. Clive was an active member of the Scandinavian Club, where he enjoyed participating in the Sam Steele parade as a Viking on a Viking ship. His favorite pastime was attending Cranbrook Royals hockey games.
Due to declining health, Clive spent his final years in the Green Home, where he was beloved by the nurses and staff for his goofy sense of humor. Clive Syvertsen passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 88, with his family by his side.
