Obituary of Martin Charles Larsen
Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Charles Larsen (Marty), at age 67, on March 23, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB. Marty was born in Cranbrook, BC to Carl Larsen and Patricia Larsen (Lapointe). He was a life long Cranbrook boy, only leaving for a short work stint to Prince Rupert right after high school. His travels were mostly done close to home through his 35 year career as a locomotive engineer for CP Rail. As a third generation railroader, he was proud of his job, and found many joys observing the changing landscapes, birds and wildlife between Cranbrook and Golden.
Through his retirement, he found pleasure hiking at Eager Hills with his sister Marni, growing a veggie garden, riding the local trails on his e-bike, and cruising around in his new jeep.
Marty will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh within minutes of meeting them. He loved sharing old stories, cracking jokes with his quick wit, helping others and sharing his delicious food.
He is survived by his two children, Dan Larsen (Chantelle), and Krysta Larsen (Max), as well as his cherished siblings, David Larsen (Laurie), Marni Goss (Ray), and Daryl Larsen (Trudy).
His spirit will live on in the mountains, wildflowers and Pink Floyd songs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cranbrook Viking Lodge on Saturday June 7, 2025 at 2pm.
