Obituary of Jerome Edward Soum

Please share a memory of Jerome to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Only a life lived for others, is a life worth while!

After a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, Jerome’s circle of life ended peacefully with his wife Linda by his side.

Following high school Jerome received his certificate for Journeyman Painting and Decorating. After the 4 years of schooling and apprenticing, he took a year off and got a job on a yacht in the Caribbean, sailing to different ports. Returning to Kimberley in 1978, he painted for different companies and then got a job at Kimberley School District #6. After 25 years he retired at 55. I 1990 he and his best friend Linda Bue and her 2 sons Nathan and Nolan started their life together having 35 years of happiness.

Jerome is survived by his wife Linda, stepson Nolan, brother Ray (Linda) & family, sister Marilyn & family, Lynn & Caden, many cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his great number of friends from grade school to adult life, his A&W buddies, and friends from Nevada, California, and Arizona.

Jerome was predeceased by his father George Soum, mother Irene Soum, stepson Nathan Bue, and brother-in-law Dave Merriam.

There will not be a formal service as per Jerome’s wishes, but a Memorial Gathering will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Jerome’s memory to the SPCA or a charity of your choosing.

Jerome’s words: “When a light rain is falling and the sun comes out, I will be painting you a rainbow to remind you to hug someone you love. Thank you all for a great life.”
