Obituary of Phyllis Doris Willumeit
Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Doris Willumeit, our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, nana, GG, sister (Narna), Aunt, Great Aunt, cousin and friend.
Phyllis was the eldest child of Fred and Georgina Burton; she was born at home on February 11,1939 near Glaslyn Saskatchewan. Phyllis attended school in a one room schoolhouse at Helene Lake and then Midnight Lake. Phyllis left school shortly after completing grade 9. At 15, Phyllis then began working for the McConnell family as a helper within the house and the farm.
Phyllis married George Willumeit on July 18, 1958, they were married for 46 years, one month shy of their 47th wedding anniversary. Phyllis was always creative; she learned how to crochet (beautiful pieces that we all have received as gifts), knit, sew, and braid rugs. Jigsaw puzzles and diamond painting were some of her favorite pastimes. Phyllis was a great homemaker and took immense pride in canning, cooking, and baking for her family and friends. We all enjoyed Sunday dinners in Jaffray with mom and dad. With a lot of hard work Phyllis and George created a beautiful yard and gardens on their property in Jaffray. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with the friends she made everywhere that she lived. She enjoyed a life of independence until her final days.
Left to miss Phyllis are her children; Sheila Halisheff (Patrick Wedel), Gail Dean (Keith), Lorie Parsons (Bob), Ronda Palmer (Ron), her siblings Jeannette, Elizabeth, Gloria, Joyce and her brother Wilfred as well as many extended family members and great friends.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband George Willumeit (2005) and her son Lane Willumeit (2016) (Amanda Willumeit-Deuxberry). Also missing Phyllis are her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Richard Salekin (Brittany) (children Emma and Jase) Scott Salekin (children Raine and Lexi), Tabatha Pelkinen (Doug), Amelia Halisheff, Nikolaus Dean (Karly Hesch), Nolla Moore (Theo), Riely Palmer (Rachel) (children; Rowen & Ramona), Reid Palmer (Jade) (child; Archer), Demi Willumeit, Torrin Willumeit, Teague Willumeit and Briar-Rose Deuxberry.
