We learned of George's passing when we were holidaying out of the country and were deeply shocked. We are not aware of the circumstances but our profound and sincere condolences are sent to Joan and the family. I always enjoyed stopping to chat with George when we met downtown and our conversations were always interesting and stimulating and most often focussed on our shared interest in outdoor activities. I well remember a weekend when George towed me on skis behind his quad into his cabin
at White Swan. We stopped every so often to check his traps and I learned way more than I ever knew about the skills involved in trapping. His cabin was cleverly camouflaged amongst a thick wooded area not easily noticeable from the trail and we spent an evening sharing stories of our outdoor experiences and I gained a grudging admiration for the skills and determination that George demonstrated by his devotion to trapping. In an earlier time I can imagine that George would have travelled to check his trap line by snowshoe or dogsled. He was a revered teaching colleague and without doubt influenced the lives of many of his students.

Joan I just found out abut the death of George and I am truly sorry for your loss. I haven't been in contact with you or your family for many years. I lost my husband Lawrence last March 7, 2015 and I am still struggling with his death and not being able to talk to him and just being together. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family through this difficult time.

Nov. 23, 2016. I just learned of George's death from Joan. I was shocked and deeply saddened. George was the other male teacher at Lindsay Park and he helped me to feel at home in the school and with Kimberley. I have so many memories of George, from him helping me to split wood to paddling trips on the local rivers. Although George was older than me, he was physically superior, and this makes his suddden passing that much more difficult to accept. Joan, you and George will always mean a lot to me in the way you welcomed me to town and as teaching colleagues for many years.
