Robert James Simpson
"Bob"
February 19, 1952 - December 31, 2016
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Robert Simpson announces his passing on Saturday, December 31st, 2016, at 64 years of age.
He is survived by his son Sean Simpson, his daughter-in-law Sarah (Duffey) Simpson, his ex-wife and friend Adele (Ferguson) Simpson, and many friends.
Born and raised in Cranbrook, British Columbia, the only child of Heliard "Simp" and Elizabeth "Bessie" Simpson, he was a lifelong resident of Cranbrook.
In his early years, Robert developed a deep and endearing love of the outdoors. He adored camping, and particularly treasured summers spent at the family cabin in Corbin, BC. As an adult, he bestowed his love of nature to his son, Sean, and enjoyed teaching him how to hunt, fish and trap. A lover of animals, Bob was happy to bring the family dog Patches into his home. Later in his life, he adopted a blue heeler/border collie puppy named Diesel, who became a beloved companion for 13 years.
Bob became a mason and bricklayer, a career that lasted a lifetime. He proudly built the family home in which his wife and child lived for over twenty years. Robert developed his own post peeling business, BAS Enterprises, lovingly named after family (Bob, Adele, and Sean), which he established in Lumberton, BC.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with a private interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
