My condolences to all those who loved and were loved by Colin.
While I haven't seen him in years (I moved away at the end of 8th grade), I grew up in Invermere with Colin in the same grade, and hearing of his passing was horrible news to me, as I'm certain it was for anyone who had ever met Colin - he was truly a well-loved person.
He was always the class clown, a ball of energy, wit, and mischevious fun. I don't have a single memory of him being mean-spirited, just his easy-going, kind, effervescent self to everyone. I remember so many silly things (though, I hope my memory holds, as it's been awhile since my playground days!)...
I think it was the 3rd grade that all the boys and girls decided to have 'best friend weddings' on the playground - did Colin wed Matt, Tyler or Darren? Haha.
4th grade, the band Chumbawamba and the song 'Tubthumping' were all the rage. Cole and Colin were buds (if memory serves) and there'd be races at the beginning of lunch hour to get the tape over to the tape deck before anyone else could stop the musical routine that tended to include a lot of air guitar and jumping. I'm actually not sure if there was only one cassette that had to be shared between multiple rooms of 4th graders, all vying for some lunchtime Chumbawamba - seems likely.
5th grade (or was it 6 or 7th?) the boys decided to do a Limp Bizkit song for the Battle of the Bands - impressive, truly an amazing performance. I'm still in awe. I think they got a standing ovation from the crowd of screaming middle schoolers.
He was a person of such vibrancy, personality, and charisma, and will be sorely missed by all those who knew him, even those of us that hadn't seen him in a very very long time. May he rest in peace.
Much love, Alexandra Sellers
