Obituary of Albert Leo Frocklage

1923 - 2012

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Albert Leo Frocklage announces his passing on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Kimberley, British Columbia at 88 years of age.

Bert was born on November 8, 1923 in Denzil, Saskatchewan. Bert married June in 1947 and they were married 65 years. They moved to Kimberley in 1949 and resided in the same homestead until the day of his passing. Bert was a proud family man raising six children, having eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren and was about to welcome two more great grandchildren into this world very soon. Alongside working at Cominco Mine for 37 years, Bert was a decorated World War II veteran, volunteered for many community organizations, was a life member of the Knights Of Columbus and the BCAL Senior Citizen Branch. He also favoured his hobbies of gardening and wood working.

Bert is survived by his loving wife of 65 years June, children Garry (Elizabeth) Frocklage, Ken Frocklage, Cathy (Chris) Gustavsen, Teresa (Jeffrey) Moore, Chris (Dan) Beaton and Janice (David) Halifax, grandchildren Josh Moore, Melanie Moore, Jen Gustavsen, Kristin Gustavsen, Jacqueline Smithson, Ben Frocklage, Bryan Halifax, and Blair Halifax, and great grandchildren Makenna Moore, Cayleigh Moore and Kate Bieberdorf, sisters Mary Ottenbrite and Rose Thourand. He was predeceased by his father and mother Henry and Clara Frocklage, brothers Henry Frocklage, Ben Frocklage and George Frocklage, and sisters Louise Wayman and Ann Issacson.

A memorial mass for Bert will be held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Kimberley on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Bert may do so to the: Heart & Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon
