Samuel Glenn Cross
May 31, 1932 - April 12, 2017
It is with great sadness and tremendous loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 12, 2017 after a short courageous battle with cancer, just short of his 85th birthday.
Sam was born in Croton, Ontario on May 31, 1932 to parents Russel Gilbert Cross and Myrtle (nee Rinnert) Cross and had 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Sam travelled across Canada and settled in the Galloway area where he met and married the love of his life Harriatte Ingham. They were married in September of 1953 and had over 63 happy years together, and raised 3 sons.
Dad loved taking care of his large vegetable garden, enjoyed curling with great friends, getting truck loads of fire wood with his sons and grandchildren, but mostly having large family and friend get-together's.
Dad was a kind and very generous man who touched the lives of many people, and was always willing to lend a hand. He had a great talent of being able to "fix" anything and everything, large or small.
Sam was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Lloyd, Vic and Frank, his sister Mary and his oldest son Micheal.
Left to mourn Sam's passing are his wife Harriatte, his sisters Stella Webster (Dean) and Pat DeMayer (George) of Ontario, sons Frank (Pam) and Russell (Nancy), and daughters-in-law Alida Lockhart (Stew) and Tracy Cross (Pat). He was the Best Poppa to his grandchildren Steven Cross (Amy), Corey Cross, Michelle Cook (Rowdy), Erica Cross Miles (Mike), Hayley Oakley (Wade), Mack Cross (Brandy), Ben and Micheal Cross. Poppa's Great Grandchildren were very precious to him. He showered each with his love, treasured their visits and enjoyed watching their antics. His great grandchildren Tiara, Caelen, Cali, Khloe, Ty, Zoe, Austin, Wyatt, Kaedra, Aiden and unborn twins he was hoping to meet will all miss him dearly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and special friends.
