Douglas McKinney
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas McKinney on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Doug was a great friend, loving husband and a wonderful father.
Doug started his adult journey with his loving wife Judy in 1967. They started their adventure together in Grand Forks farming up North Fork. Doug enjoyed these beginning challenging years and remembered them with fondness throughout his life. Doug later moved his growing family to the East Kootenays where he was able to explore his diverse talents and strengths over the next 40 years as a logger, construction contractor and pub owner (the original Jaffray Inn), realtor and ending his working career repairing bathtubs all over the Kootenays.
Doug enjoyed being creative, whether in the yard, creating furniture pieces in his work shop, or when he was renovating or building the family homes. Doug enjoyed being busy and was forever expanding his knowledge of things.
Doug and Judy spent more than 50 years together enjoying their very blessed and encompassing life. Although Doug will be missed dearly by his loving wife, family and friends, our lives have been forever touched and blessed for his presence and we wish him love and peace in his next adventure.
Doug leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife Judy, daughter Debbie, son-in-law Stacy Roberts, daughter Sam Liboiron, son Leonard McKinney, his beloved dog Jack, his grieving grandchildren Joel and Justin Roberts, (Shelby) and Taylor and Alex Liboiron. Doug was fortunate to become a great grandfather shortly before his passing, welcoming Seren to the family. Doug is survived by his sister Elaine Clark (Larry) of Grand Forks and his brother-in-law Jim LaFleur (Gail) of Grande Prairie.
He was predeceased by his parents Len and Dorothy McKinney and his brother Rodney all of Grand Forks, and his grandson Cayden Liboiron of Cranbrook.
At Doug's request there will be no service. Donations in his memory can be made to the: East Kootenay S.P.C.A., PO Box 2, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 4H6.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
