(nee Tolley)

1939 - 2010

On July 29, 2010, Doris, 71, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with her loving husband by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doris was born in Fernie, British Columbia on April 26, 1939 and spent most of her life in the Elk Valley. She married her husband Clifford in 1957 and they had two sons. Doris enjoyed camping, fishing and crocheting and loved to bake and cook for her family.

Doris is survived by her husband Clifford; son Cliff and his wife Bonnie; grandson Justin and granddaughter Ashley; and her son Kevin (Tanya). Doris is also survived by her sister Bessie of Fernie. Doris will be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Anna and Albert Tolley and her sister Marie and brother Tom. We are truly grateful to have shared our lives with her.

Don't grieve for me, from pain I'm free

I'm following the path God has laid, you see.

I took His hand when I heard His call

I turned around and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way

I found the peace on a sunny day.

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joys.

A family shared, a laugh, a kiss

Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I've savoured much,

Good family, good times, a loved ones touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief

Don't lengthen it with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.

God wanted me now; from pain I'm free.
