Edward Farrier
"Ted"
1929 - 2017
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Edward Farrier announces his passing after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's on Monday, July 3, 2017.
Ted was born in Moose Jaw, SK on April 7, 1929. The family moved to Trail, BC where Ted graduated in 1948. He picked fruit in Summerland and Peachland during the summer breaks of grade 11 and grade 12. Ted's first big job was as a teller for the Canadian Bank of Commerce. It was at that time that Ted formally changed his given name from Teddy to Edward, as the bank manager did not feel that Teddy was a suitable name for a banker! From there Ted worked as a clerk for Cominco in Trail, before being transferred to Kimberley in 1953. While working at Cominco he obtained his Registered Industrial Accounting Degree through correspondence, eventually retiring from his position as Assistant Accountant with Cominco in Kimberley in 1985 after 31 years of service to Cominco.
Ted was devoted to his family, participating in a number of organizations and activities with his wife and children. He spent many years doing books and sitting on boards for local charities and organizations, and was an active member of the Boy Scouts of Canada for over 40 years. Ted loved to golf, curl and ski and spent a number of years as a guest guide at the Kimberley Ski Resort.
Ted is survived by his wife of 61 years Barbara, his daughters Heather and Cynthia (Mike), son Michael (Audrey), grandchildren Gregory, Kyle, Sara, Marco and Christian, his great grandchildren Evan and Justin, his brother Don (Liz) and his sister Violet.
Ted was predeceased by his parents Edward and Edith (Rose), his infant brother John, and his brothers James, Ray and Charles.
An open house celebration of Ted's life will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Resker Hall, the Scouts Canada Hall, located at 660 - 307th Avenue in Marysville.
Thank you to Dr. Lunge, the Kimberley Home Support staff and the staff at "The Pines" for the care they provided to Ted.
