Dear Flo, Ron, Rona and Peter:
On behalf of my Wife and I, my Sister Gloria's Family and our Brother Randy we wish to express our sincere condolences on your loss of Derek. Our thoughts have been with you all since hearing of the sad news and I can only imagine how the pain must feel at this difficult time.
My Mother and Father would want you to know that they had a special place in their hearts for Derek. I know they enjoyed having him stay with them in Edmonton. I remember the good times we shared as families together when Derek and I were kids camping in BC. I regret that we are not able to travel to Cranbrook at this time, our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you all.
With much Love
Glenn, Cherilyn and the Mueller Family

Dear Flo and Ron, and Rona and Peter, We are so very sad to hear of Derek's death and we know too well the pain you will be feeling at the loss of your lovely boy. I remember him so well from Muriel Baxter where he was such a sweet boy. It is so easy to remember his smile and so hard to reflect on the challenges he has had to face over the past many years. Our most sincere heartfelt sympathies to you all at this painful time, Roger and Sharon G-M

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember fondly the many summer trips you made to Winnipeg when Derek, Rona and Peter were young and more recent trips Derek made with his mom and his visits to La Salle. He will be missed.

Derek and I grew up together on Anderson Crescent - we were buddies all through elementary school - playing Cowboys & Indians or Cops & Robbers in the neighborhood, riding our bikes to the Victoria Groceries for ice cream and soda pop, watching Star Trek and the Lone Ranger, playing board games, going to boy scouts together, we were best of friends. He was the nicest most sincere, honest, and caring person I have ever had the honor to be friends with. Even through his illness Derek had the drive to reach out, even up to just a few months ago would call my mom and dad just to say hello and see how I was doing.
I am so sorry that he left us so early, but have solace in knowing that he is in a better place and finally has the peace and serenity he so truly deserved
Godspeed Derek - I will never forget our friendship
