Obituary of Ronald James Cavers

Ronald James Cavers April 26, 1965 - August 2, 2017 It is with deep sadness and tremendous loss that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, son, brother and uncle at the age of 52 years. Ron was born in Vancouver, BC on April 26, 1965 to parents Gary and Diana Cavers. Ron will always be remembered for his great smile, jokes, and compassion for everyone. Ron was an accomplished skier who won many medals in moguls and aerial competitions. He was honoured by being selected twice to compete in moguls for the Canadian National Championships. Ron had a gift for training and teaching skiers. One of his accomplishments was forming a team of beginner skiers and coaching them to competition level. The team then entered the BC games and won first place in the moguls event. He was a ski school director in New Zealand and also at the ski resort in Golden, BC. Ron enjoyed a variety of other sports; paragliding, ice climbing, camping, boating, fishing, water skiing and snowmobiling. He loved cooking, baking and gardening and he loved watching movies especially comedies, plus he got a great kick out of being the practical joker. Professionally, Ron was an excellent contractor where he was well known for his specialty in tile and hardwood floor installation. Keep your eyes open, you may see one of his creations around town. He enjoyed going for walks, and visiting with every person he saw. In recent years he especially enjoyed his brain injury meetings and the treasured friends he made there. He cherished their kindness and helpfulness in his life. On Monday mornings you would find Ron volunteering at the Cranbrook Food Bank. Ron loved his family and his many friends and was considered the life of the party. He was always ready to give a helping hand to others. Ron's warm smile and welcoming manner will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Left to mourn Ron's passing are his daughter Dakota, parents Gary (Diane- stepmother) mother Diana, sister Carolyn (Dale) Beauchamp, brother David (Patricia) Cavers, as well as numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and many good friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Columbo Lodge, Cranbrook BC, 2530 - 8th Avenue South on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather for a reception in the hall after the service.
