DALE McMUNN 1937- 2017 Dale passed away peacefully at home in Cranbrook, BC with his wife Elaine by his side on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 8:23 am. He fought a long battle with cancer the way he lived his life, quietly and with dignity, strength, and determination. He was born on May 15, 1937 in McMunn, Manitoba; he was delivered at home by his favourite Aunt, Edith. Dale and Elaine were married in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on April 9, 1966 and they went on to enjoy 51 happy years together. They had two children, Steven and Karen. He worked for many years as a welder in the UA Local 170 and finished his career as a welder/machinist for 17 years at Finning in Sparwood, BC. In his younger years he loved flying and was a private pilot with his own Cessna 172. He and Elaine flew from BC to visit family in Ontario, to Alaska for a vacation in the Land of the Midnight Sun, and attended and participated in many air shows. In his later years they were able to escape winter, visiting Mexico, Florida and California for a few weeks at a time while he was still working and in retirement spending 9 winters on the Colorado River in Arizona. He loved being a grandfather and enjoyed watching his four grandchildren grow up. Dale was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Jean (nee Dales) McMunn, his brother Ralph McMunn, and his brother-in-law Cliff Pidgen. Dale is lovingly remembered by his wife Elaine (nee Pidgen) McMunn, son Steve McMunn, daughter and son-in-law Karen (McMunn) and Dale Hark, and grandchildren Ben, Raiah, Miranda and Braedan Hark.
