Obituary of Maria Tufano

Maria Antoinette Tufano (nee Tironese) 1929 - 2017 It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Maria Tufano announce her passing on Thursday, September 28, 2017 in Cranbrook, BC at 88 years of age. Maria was born in Forino, Italy, one of seven children born to Federico and Brigida Tironese. In 1956 Maria married the love of her life, Armando, and they immigrated to Canada where they raised their two daughters Nancy and Toni. Maria worked at various jobs, but lastly as a seamstress, making many friends along the way. Maria's ultimate love was her family and her garden. She cherished her friendships old and new. Anyone who met her was drawn to her kind words and undying spirit. She will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives she touched. Maria is survived by her daughter Toni Evans (Tony) of Cranbrook, son-in-law Peter Clarotto of Cranbrook, nephew Luigi Avagnano (Mary) of Cranbrook, grandchildren Vincent Capuano, Ryan Clarotto and Julieana Clarotto, brothers Federico Tironese (Norma) of Cranbrook and Luigi Tironese (Grazia) of Italy. Maria was predeceased by her husband Armando in 2009, her infant son Armando Jr in 1971, her daughter Nancy Clarotto in 2004 and Vincent's beloved father Vince Capuano in 2000, her sisters Domenica Avagnano and Gaetana Barone, her brothers Gaetano Tironese and Gerardo Tironese and her niece Maria Young. Prayers for Maria will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 7:00 pm. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:00 am. Maria will be entombed in the Westlawn Cemetery Mausoleum following the mass.
