Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

1928 - 2012

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Walter Thomas Findell announces his passing on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Cranbrook, BC at 84 years of age.

Walter was born on February 29, 1928 in Lewisville, NB. He was raised in and around Moncton, NB. It was in Moncton also, that he met and married Violet, the love of his life. He was a dedicated father and they cherished the privilege of raising their 3 children.

Walter had a varied work experience that included working in the round-house for Canadian National Rail Road. Later, as a big rig truck driver he covered many highway miles in nearly every province of Canada. Walter was a natural with anything mechanical - this trait served him well when he became a logger and mill owner. He enjoyed the great out of doors, and pursued his hobby of placer mining whenever possible.

Walter will be remembered for his great sense of humour, and zest for life. He enjoyed his Bible reading, but in the last few years, as his vision deteriorated, you would often see him struggling as he tried to read it with his magnifying glass. He remained a committed Christian to the end.

Walter is survived by Violet, his loving and committed wife of 52 years; his daughter Merlo (Clyde) Franklin, granddaughter Kayla (Jeremy) Geisinger, grandson Tyler Franklin; his son Mel Findell, granddaughter Jazmine Findell, grandson Jake Findell; and his daughter Mryna (Chris) Everett. He was predeceased by his parents Sanford and Clara Findell, and his sisters Muriel Robertson and Evelyn Paisley.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Creston on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Molina officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in honour of Walter may be made to: A.D.R.A Canada, 1148 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario, L1H 1H8 or the charity of your choice.
