Sylvia Lee-Anne Diamond 1958 - 2017 Sylvia Lee-Anne Diamond passed away at the Invermere and District Hospital on Saturday, December 23rd, 2017 at 59 years of age. Sylvia was born in Golden, BC on September 27th 1958 to Ken and Fernella Smith. She was the youngest, of two children. Sylvia and her older brother Terry spent their childhood in Edgewater, BC before she went to live with her grandparents in Agassiz, during her early teens. It was in Agassiz where Sylvia later met her husband Hugh Diamond, while waitressing at the Kent Motel. The two got married in the Anglican Church, in Sylvia's hometown of Edgewater, BC in 1978. A year later they had their son Doug and moved to Lyle Island, before hopping around Vancouver Island like a family of gypsies. Sylvia loved watching the ocean during a storm and would gladly watch the beautiful chaos for hours on end. She also loved boat trips and going to Saratoga Speedway and watching the races with her son. She especially liked the roar of the engines - the louder the better. Her favorite time was when Sylvia and her husband were caretaking the Toba Wilderness Resort in Toba Inlet. Sylvia couldn't get enough of the breathtaking views and fresh prawns every day. Sylvia and her husband eventually returned to Edgewater to look after her ailing parents. After they passed, the two lived in her family home, before her own ailing health forced her to take up residence in Ivy House in Invermere, until her unfortunate passing. Sylvia left behind her husband Hugh, her son Doug, her brother Terry and her two grandsons, Kuruk and Kohen. Sylvia loved many and was loved by many in return. She was the kind of person that always made you feel important when you spoke with her. Sylvia will be greatly missed. The family will be having a service for her in the spring at the Edgewater Legion, where she was a member and loved to volunteer. We will return with her Toba Inlet, so she will forever reside in her personal Heaven. Our family would like to thank the staff at Ivy House, the Invermere and District Hospital, Dr. Olmesdahl, the Edgewater Fire Department and the First Responders for the caring and compassion given to Sylvia. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
