Michael Jeffrey Thompson
"Mike"
October 1, 1958 - February 21, 2018
At peace with nature
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike in the loving arms of his wife Henny on the morning of Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
Mike was born on October 1st, 1958 in Penticton. He leaves behind his wife Henny, his parents Carol and James Thompson, his brother Moge, sisters Jan and Jacquie and children Laura and Katie plus his loyal four legged friend Cassie.
Mike was an avid outdoors person. He loved camping, prospecting, gold panning and dragging friends and family up and down the beautiful mountains in this area. Just around the next corner or just over this next ridge was always his motivational speech.
Mike's other passion - was his love of music. Best times were spent playing his guitar and singing with his good buddies.
Mike fought a long and courageous battle with colon cancer and it was his wish to encourage people around him to book a colonoscopy with their doctor; sooner than later, as early detection can make a difference.
We would like to thank the many nurses and health care professionals and "Team Mike" (Henny, Moge, Tammy, Bob, Jurgen, Dan, Lori and Linda) for taking good care of him with a special thank you to Dr. Pieterse and his staff at the clinic.
Mike will be interred in the Fort Steele Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.
If you wish to, donations may be made to the Oncology Department at The East Kootenay Hospital in Cranbrook, BC in Mike's honor.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
