Luciana Dean
"Lucy"
1938 -2018
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Luciana Dean announce her peaceful passing in the early hours of Thursday, February 22nd, 2018, in the Kimberley Special Care Home.
Lucy was born in Valvasone, Italy, on December 6th, 1938 and came to Kimberley in 1960 and married Ennio. They were blessed with two children, Helen and Randy and enjoyed their family life at their Rotary Drive home. Nonni, probably the name she loved the most and answered the quickest, was added with the arrival of her two grandchildren, Haylie and Brayden. Her favoured hours were spent loving and supporting them at their baseball, curling and hockey. She enjoyed teaching them many life activities through her gardening, her love of nature and her cooking. Sunday dinners were a constant as she illustrated her expertise in the kitchen with a wide variety of Italian goodies and main courses as well as many Canadian specialties.
Lucy worked at The Pines for 22 years freely offering her care and love to all, residents and other staff members. Even after retirement, Lucy continued her friendship with her co-workers and will be missed at those luncheons.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, some TV and visiting with friends and neighbours. Her out-of-the-home most loved pastime was cheering for the Kimberley Dynamiters, which she did for over 50 years. She was a dedicated adherent to the Sacred Heart Parish and its CWL.
Luciana is survived by her husband, Ennio, her children, Helen (Grant) and Randy, and her beloved grand-children, Haylie and Brayden.
She was pre-deceased by her parents and four sisters. She will also be lovingly missed by two sisters and a brother and by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Dear Nonni, You will be missed!
In response to Lucy's request, there will be no service. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations in Luciana's name, may be made to the Pines Memorial Society, c/o Bev Banks, Kimberley Special Care Home, 386 - 2nd Avenue, Kimberley, BC, V1A 2Z8.
WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME
When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me
I wish you wouldn't cry
The Way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We did not get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
Each time that you think of me
I know you will miss me too
When tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
The angel said my place was ready
In heaven far above
And That I would have to leave behind
All those I Dearly Love
But When I walked through Heaven's Gates
I felt so much at home
When GOD looked down and smiled at me
From his golden throne
He said This Is Eternity
And All I promised you
Today for life on earth is done
But Here it starts a new
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And Since each day's the exact same way
There is no longing for the past
So When Tomorrow starts without me
Do not think we're apart
For every time you think of me
Remember I'm right here in your heart
