Eleanor Dolina Morrison
(nee Jack)
"Nelly"
Born: February 9, 1929 in Vancouver, British Columbia
Passed Away: March 6, 2018 in Sheep Creek, British Columbia
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our Dear Mother, our Father's Soul Mate, Beloved Aunt, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Dear Friend to all of us, Eleanor Dolina Morrison (nee Jack), 89, of Sheep Creek, BC who passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2018.
Eleanor was born on February 9, 1929 to parents Dolly and Peter Jack and grew up with her brothers Bobby and Peter and sister Isobel.
In grad school she earned the nickname 'The Einstein of Shorthand' and upon graduation was placed into a secretarial position with the Vancouver School Board.
One fateful day on Second Beach in Stanley Park she met Kenneth John Morrison "Mushy" and was married not long after on June 28, 1952. The newlyweds made their home in Kimberley, BC where they raised three children: Susan, Peggy and Peter.
Ken and Eleanor shared a love for the outdoors and bought a parcel of land near Premier Lake, BC and built a small cabin beside Sheep Creek. Over the years the cabin evolved to be their main homestead and they eventually sold their Kimberley home and moved to their newly built home in Sheep Creek.
Friends and family will fondly remember all of the fun times shared at the 'cabin' and its peaceful surroundings. Eleanor had a deep passion for music and as a graduate of the Royal Conservative Board of Music, Grade 9 first class honours, she taught piano lessons and composed and wrote a couple of songs.
She loved living in 'Skookumchuck' as much as she liked telling people where she lived! She could be found enjoying a long walk in the nearby woods and a quick dip in the creek. Many of those close to Eleanor appreciated her for her kindness, her intelligence and her keen sense of humour and wit.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth John Morrison "Mushy"; daughter Susan (Doug) Nicholson, grandson Nathan (Rebecca) Nicholson, and three great grandchildren Deegan, Davin and Atlee; grandson Brent Nicholson (Kara Brissette), daughter Peggy Morrison (Dale Krushel) and son Peter Morrison.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The Kimberley Loan Cupboard. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
Rest in Peace ... Until we meet again.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
