Len and his sisters & brother grew up on the same street as I did in Regina, on the other side of the street and down a few houses. My late wife Sandra and her brother Jim and sister Christine also lived across the street. Jim and Len were close friends and school buddies.
I've been told that on occasion they would collaborate to skip class, with Len tasting a banana (being allergic to bananas) and Jim telling their teacher that he would help Len get home safely!
One summer when Len and Jim were still teenagers, my wife and I took them with us for a trip to New Mexico to visit my sister Dorothy(Dot) and her family. Although they were both too young to consume beer in a restaurant, our brother Bob vouched for them, being a police officer in Moose Jaw, so they could join the rest of us having a beer. Len thought that was very cool!
We will all miss you Len and extend our deepest sympathy to Vicki and to Lens' sisters and brother.
Uncle Ray and family.

It is so hard to say good-bye to the people we love. Len was a kind and gentle soul who will be missed by his many friends and people in the community. Knowing Vicki and Len for more than 20 years, we know this will be such a loss for you, Vicki, because of your deep connection and friendship. Tim and I joked about Len shopping at the "best places", as we often ran into him at the liquor store. Never too busy to stop and chat, it was typical of Len to be more interested in hearing what we were up to, than to talk about himself. He often did such kind things for people, many favours and volunteered in the community. It was done quietly, as it was Len's way. I appreciated many things about him. His intelligence, his eye for getting a great photo, and his many artistic abilities. So humble for such an accomplished man in his professional and artistic life.
We will remember Len and toast him and keep memories of him close in our hearts. Much love to you Vicki, and to Len's family. We feel fortunate to have had him as a friend.
Tracey & Tim

I first met Len around 36 years ago. Every week or so, Len came out from Regina to the Employment and Immigration office in Moose Jaw where I was employed. We struck up an acquaintanceship over coffee/tea in the staff cafeteria down in the basement. I got so I would look forward to his weekly visits to the office, (Tuesdays I think), so I could have a chat with my new friend. He was so easy going and our coffee breaks were like being in the calm eye of the storm raging around us back upstairs.
In 1988 I moved to the Cranbrook Employment Centre and said my farewells to Len.
A number of years later while walking up 10th Avenue in Cranbrook, here comes Len strolling down the sidewalk as the new Immigration officer for this area. We just picked up where we left off. As a bonus, Vicki had transferred into our office and I got to meet her.
Life and work kept ourselves busy with occasional get togethers, but when Len and I both found ourselves retired, we found a common interest in fly fishing. Len taught me all the finer points of the art and made absolutely sure I was properly outfitted and equipped. I will always treasure the box of hand-tied flies he made for me.
Sally and I will miss his quiet sense of humor, depth of knowledge on so many topics and his most gentle ways.
Our condolences to Vicki and the family.
Fare thee well our friend. Good fishing.

I met Len in the community forest walking my dog. Turned out our dogs shared some ancestry and a friendship began ... this was 20 years ago. I would always know Len was in the forest as my dog would put his nose to the ground and be gone ... hightailing it as fast as he could to find his dear friend. Sure enough, 5 minutes or so up the trail there would be Len heading back in my direction, my dog at his side. Thanks to my dog we had many walks together. I miss that. Much love Vicky.

Len and Vicki have been my dear friends for nearly 20 years.
Our mutual love of dogs brought us together.........he was the
Pied Piper of the Community Forest. I have images of Len
surrounded by 6-8 dogs as he talked to them and handed out
treats. How he will be missed by the many fur babies in the forest.............especially so by my immediate circle of dogs.
Our dog walks together brought out discussion of many, many topics, but our favorite together was political. Len was well
informed..............I learned so much from him. He was stunningly creative, our Len............rock and wood carving, oil
painting, book publishing and he could problem solve like no other. Len took over the Mr. Mom role as Vicki continued to work and he retired. He could cook and clean and do the
laundry, keep the yard immaculate, the repair's and maintenance up to snuff and still take time to be with
his friends on the lake fishing and on the golf course or at coffee......and then always home at 4 to greet his love. He
was an absolutely beautiful human being and our loss is beyond measure. Len will be close to my heart forever.

One night Vicki and Len and Beth, Heather and Wally were having a few glasses. Wally and I were telling our macho hunting stories, or maybe that was just me... Len, as was his custom, was politely listening and enjoying. When we'd blown off our chauvistic steam, Len quietly said that he'd once had an altercation with a wild pig. He had our attention. Len proceeded to tell the story of being out on his own hikng when encountering a very aggressive wild boar. He had no gun or pepper spray. He found a solid stick on the ground and beat the hell out of the pig. If you know Len, you know that he was not bragging. He was simply reciting the events that happened. I will never forget the story and I will especially never forget how Len Knudsen casually told us over wine and dinner how he had to dispatch a wild pig with a club. No big deal. What a beautiful, understated, gentle man. We will miss you.
God bless you Vicki.
