1926 - 2010
It is with great sorrow that the family of William Roy Currie announces his passing on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 84 years of age.
Roy was born on August 10, 1926 in Davidson, Saskatchewan. He was raised in Penzence, Saskatchewan on the family farm. He joined the army in 1943 and remained in active service for 33 years, serving twice in Germany and eventually retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer.
Roy and his beloved wife Kaye retired to Baynes Lake, British Columbia, where they enjoyed good friends and great community spirit. Roy and Kaye were Kootenay Ice season ticket holders and they both "loved their Ice."
Left to mourn Roy's passing are his daughter Sandra Duke (Barry) and family and his son Ron and grandson Christian; step-daughters: Elaine, Madeline and Donna and their families. Roy was predeceased by his 2nd wife of 40 years Kaye earlier this year, and his 1st wife Muriel in 1968.
A memorial service for Roy will be held at the McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at 1:00 pm. His Interment will take place in Saskatchewan at a later date. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Roy may do so to the charity of their choosing.
