Maureen Margaret Rosicky
(nee Holtom)
June 25, 1925 - September 1, 2018
It is with deep sadness the family of Maureen Rosicky announce her passing on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at her daughter's home in Jaffray. She was 93 years old.
Maureen was born on June 25, 1925 at the St. Eugene Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.
She spent her early childhood in Wardner, then lived in Nelson, and during the war, Maureen lived in Vancouver where she worked for Boeing Aircraft building fighter planes. On November 11, 1946 Maureen married the love of her life, Andy Rosicky and they moved to Wardner where they raised their family. In 1985 Maureen moved to 'her' apartment in Cranbrook where she lived right up until her passing. During her life, Maureen golfed, curled, bowled, floor curled and skied. She was a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary and was named the Cranbrook Volunteer of the Year. Maureen called bingo for seniors first at Extended Care and the Steeple View and finally at Joseph Creek Village - right up until this year….33 years! She made beautiful afghans - over 100 of them - which she gifted to many. Maureen's family was everything to her. She was a wonderful lady who touched many lives in her 93 years.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband Andy, her brother Douglas Holtom, her sister and brother-in-aw Enid and Marvin McLeod and two great grandsons Ian Shepherd and Zeke Fantuz.
Maureen is survived by her daughters Karen (Ron) Breakwell, Wendy (Peter) Van De Weyer, grandchildren Shaun (Krista) Damstrom, Scott (Jenny) Damstrom, Marla (Jay) Jones, Ryan (Denise) Damstrom, Colin (Laurie) Breakwell, Lea (Steve) Maughan, 10 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Darlene Rosicky and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maureen will be interred in Westlawn Cemetery with her husband Andy and beside her sister and brother-in-law.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held on Friday, September 7th at 2:00 pm at the Jaffray Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary Society, 30 - 8th Avenue South, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 2K3.
