Obituary of Brian F. Adams

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brian F. Adams January 11, 1943 - September 30, 2018 Brian Adams was an extraordinary person, husband, father, friend, businessman and grandfather. Together with Pat, his loving wife of 31 years, he created space for regular gatherings full of wonderful experiences for his family. In fact, just being with him was a wonderful experience. He was a masterful storyteller and comedian, who could even make bird watching and gardening seem fun to a nine year old. Brian loved photography and the outdoors. He gave his grandchildren the vision and thoughtfulness to notice the tiniest details and the beauty in nature. From hiking, to hunting, to photography, the outdoors was where he loved to be. Brian loved the world and the people and places in it; instilling a sense of adventure and curiosity in his family. Brian was an example of honesty and compassion rolled into one. He showed acceptance of all people. He had the magical ability to make someone feel important just by being with them. And in the kitchen? Brian was a master jelly maker. Never jam, just jelly… and not just any jelly - Grandpa's Jelly, the best jelly ever. Grandpa Brian was also a skilled fruit sculptor, creating breakfast treats that were almost too cute to eat. And anyone who has experienced his boneless turkey will never forget it. Brian was a Master Marksman, competing at a high level on the BC Pistol Shooting Team as a young man. Brian arrived in Cranbrook 50 years ago, with his first wife Doreen, and their young family, after purchasing a fledgling accounting firm. At its high point, he was a founding partner in the largest CGA firm in Canada. From a young age, Brian believed in the importance of community involvement. He contributed in a meaningful way to: Rotary International, Certified General Accountants' Associations of both BC and Canada, Community Futures, and Regional District of East Kootenay, among others. We cannot believe that we are writing this obituary. How can a man so full of life, with so much to offer the world, be gone? We invite you to join us for a celebration of Brian's life on Saturday, October 6, at 2:00 pm at the Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre in Cranbrook. Sincerely, Brian's Family: Loving wife, Pat Adams; children Brian Adams (Bianka) of Victoria, Cathy (Fred) Paton of Salmo and David (Deleen) Adams of Cranbrook; grandchildren Tara (Travis) Zeznik, Jacey Paton (Matt O'Connor), Ana Adams, Ethan Paton (Jayme Anderson), Will Adams, Jared Adams, Reid Adams, Jordan Adams, Darby Adams; great grandchildren Dax and Piper; brother John (Donna); nephew Chris (Suzanna); niece Kate (Chris) and their children. Donations can be made in Brian's memory to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, 13 - 24th Avenue North, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 3H9. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
