Obituary of Gordon Edwards

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gordon Edwards October 31st, 1941 - October 20th, 2018 Gordon Edwards was born October 31st, 1941 in Lethbridge, Alberta and passed away on October 20th, 2018 in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, British Columbia from the effects of a stroke that occurred suddenly earlier in the week. As a youngster he lived in Taber, Alberta until his late teens when his parents moved to British Columbia where they lived in several different towns until finally settling down in Cranbrook. In 1967, he married his true love, Lynda, and they raised their family in Cranbrook, where he worked as a truck driver in the freight industry as well as hauling wood chips to the pulp mill. After working many long hours during the week driving truck, almost every weekend was spent helping his father-in-law at the ranch in Jaffray. In 1991, he and Lynda moved there, where they built a beautiful log home and settled into ranching full time. Always wanting to improve the conditions of rangeland, he was active in livestock and ranching organizations such as the Waldo Stockbreeders Association and The Rocky Mountain Trench Natural Resources Society. Gordon is predeceased by his parents Joe and Lenor, as well as his daughter-in-law Jeannette who also recently passed away. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years Lynda, sisters Peggy (Rob), Phillis and Sherry (Larry), his brother Mark, children Marty (Babe), Alan (Jeannette) and Shelley (Wade) as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. His love for his family, the cowboy way of life, and his many friends will be forever remembered. A memorial service celebrating Gordon's life will be held on Saturday, October 27th at 2:00 pm in the Jaffray Community Hall. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful kindness of the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit in the Cranbrook Hospital - you made one of the most difficult times in our lives much easier to bear. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of the giver's choice. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
