Dorothy Vivian Adams
1930 - 2018
Dorothy Adams peacefully passed away at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook with family by her side on Saturday, October 20, 2018.
Dorothy was born July 24, 1930 in Winnipeg, MB to Walter and Myrtle Conley; where she grew up with her 4 siblings during the "Depression" years. She moved out to Vancouver, BC in the early 1950's where she was employed by Christie's Bakery. This is where she met her life partner Bill. They were married in Long Beach, CA on July 9, 1953. They lived in North Vancouver, Langley area and Vancouver Island for the next 3 years when they started their family in 1956. They moved to Grand Forks in 1959 until eventually settling on a final move to Cranbrook, BC in the summer of 1969.
Dorothy was dedicated to her family with her love of cooking Sunday family meals and wonderful baking of cookies and pies. She always had her hands busy crafting, knitting, crocheting and joined her seniors bowling league for a number of years. The joys of life were her grandchildren, attending school and sport functions, reading and helping them with homework in their early education.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Bill of 48 years of marriage, grandson Coby Christman, mother and father Myrtle and Walter Conley, brothers Walter and Robert, sisters Gloria Nicholson, Hazle Wade and baby sister Beth, sister-in-law Dorothy Bourel and brothers-in-law Ernie Nicholson and Frank Methot.
Dorothy is survived by her son Rob, daughters Cindy Christman and Sandie (Jim) Kitt, grandchildren Karlie Adams, Tyson and Cassidy Christman, Nik and Holly Kitt and great granddaughter Reahanna Christman as well as many nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful home care nursing staff at the Interior Health Unit, as well as the second floor nurses with their ever helpful care aides for their gentle professional care and kindness given to mom over this past year.
Dorothy's family would like to invite our family and friends to a celebration of her life on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Connects Church (200 14th Avenue North in Cranbrook).
