Obituary of Louise Marie McBride

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Louise Marie McBride 1927 - 2018 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Louise Marie McBride on Friday, November 16th at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook. Mom was born on January 2, 1927 in Debden, Saskatchewan. Being raised on the farm during the depression and Second World War she learned the meaning of poverty, the values of hard work and the strength of family. In 1954 she left Saskatchewan for Quesnel, BC where she worked as a medical receptionist. She married there in 1957 and moved briefly to Kamloops, BC, then making her move to Cranbrook, BC in 1960. It is here where mom raised her family as a single parent. She worked for many years at the Cranbrook Daily Townsman. Her home was always open to our friends and she never thought twice about adding another plate to the dinner table. She didn't have much but gave greatly to those less fortunate; always working and teaching the strength of family. Mom would travel back to Big River, Saskatchewan often to help care for her mother and be with her sisters. It is there where her heart called home. Mom is survived by her brother Fred Herdman (Prince George, BC), her children Douglas McBride (Cranbrook, BC), Robert McBride (Calgary, AB), Joanne McBride (Cranbrook, BC) and Michael McBride (Cranbrook, BC), her seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be blessed with two more great grandchildren in 2019. She was preceded by her parents, four sisters and one brother. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday December 1, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Heritage Inn Hotel & Convention Centre ballroom in Cranbrook. Mom will be interred in Big River Saskatchewan in the spring of 2019. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Cranbrook, BC. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
