Mary Agnes Carlson 1923 - 2018 Mary "Agnes" Carlson, passed peacefully into the arms of God on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Kimberley Special Care Home. Agnes was born on December 8, 1923 in Calgary, Alberta the daughter and first child of Daniel and Isabelle Johnston. Agnes was predeceased by her first husband Glen Roberts in 1959, her second husband Roy Carlson in 2001, her grandson Lee, her great grandson John, her sister Marie, brothers Don and Harley. Agnes is survived by sons Larry Carlson (Ruth), Gary Roberts (Bette), Roy Roberts (Brenda), Doug Roberts, Sheldon Potts (Erin), daughters Sandi Dunne (Dave), Joan Haskell (Allen), 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, brothers Bob, Chuck, Jim, sister Patricia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family that included many close friends. Agnes' family and her role as mother, grandmother and great grandmother was the most important thing to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what she enjoyed most of all. Her life had obstacles, yet her family remained her focus. Her perseverance through adversity was a powerful lesson. Keep your priorities straight. Keep that which is most important in focus. Love and care for your family. Agnes worked at the J.F. Hazard Clinic in Kimberley for many years and was a dedicated volunteer/member with many organizations including the Kimberley Accordion Festival, Bavarian City Mining Railroad, the Kimberley Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shop, The Royal Canadian Legion, Kimberley Senior Floor Curlers, Senior Citizen's Association of BC (Kimberley) and the Catholic Women's League. Agnes' hobbies included quilting, knitting, bingo and she loved watching curling on TV. She was a gold and silver medalist in the BC Seniors Games where she led her team in floor curling. When she was younger she also enjoyed ice curling and speed skating. She always said "I am never bored". Agnes' family would like to thank Dr. Dupreez and the staff at the Kimberley Special Care Home for taking such wonderful care of Mom in her final year. The funeral mass for Agnes will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kimberley, BC. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kimberley Special Care Home, 396 - 2nd Avenue, Kimberley, BC, V1A 2Z8. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
