Jill and family, I am so sorry to hear about Ian. I have heard stories from many retired and current teachers in Cranbrook who knew Ian and who enjoyed his sense of humour and joy of life. I never had the privilege to meet him but I know he must have been an amazing dad! Take care of each other.

Donna & Doug Alexander along with Heather and Bob send our condolences following the loss of your Dad, Ian. Like others - we found Ian a very likable neighbor up in Pine Crest. And I purchased one of your dad's painting which reflects his interest and love of nature. Rest In Peace Ian.
Donna Alexander Jan. 12th.

I first met Ian when I began teaching children's pottery after school through parks and rec back in the late 80s/ early 90s. I am so grateful for his willingness to share his art room with me and the time he spent firing all of my student's creations. It was at that time I discovered he was one of my husband's favourite teachers from high school. I had the good fortune of working with Ian before he retired. He was such a wonderful man that willingly gave of his time to help me learn the ins and outs of teaching at Baker. My sincere condolences to his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Carley was my favorite teacher in High School. I loved Art and he was the nicest teacher in the school. He encouraged me to keep drawing and patiently taught us all the messy process of Batik. Rest in Peace Mr. Carley.

I had Ian as an Art Teacher from 1982 to 1984. He was truly a remarkable teacher. I learned an enormous amount about art and most of all my ability to perform art at a fairly hi level. I left High School with a firm awareness that the only thing holding me back from being a good artist, was myself. All this fostered by Ian Carley.
Thank you so much for being a truly wonderful teacher. Rest in Peace Sir.

As a new teacher in 1996 at Mt. Baker, I was welcomed by Ian Carley who was teaching Communications at the time. He was a master teacher and his students all respected and appreciated him. Ian made me feel comfortable and invited me to have lunch with his crew in the now English office. At that time, it was Don Holt, Ray Ferguson, Don Rivers, Chuck Johnson and Ian. Ian was truly a kind gentleman. My sincere condolences to the Carley family and friends.
