Obituary of Ina Mary Barrett

Ina Mary Barrett passed away peacefully at the age of 88 in Cranbrook. British Columbia on May 17th 2019, with family close by. Ina was Born April 13 1931 To Antone and Elizabeth Rauch in Invermere British Columbia. Ina survived by her Brother Carl and predeceased by her sisters Alice and May. At a young age Ina had a son, who was adopted, in 1996 Joe set out to find her, and they have been In touch ever since. Meeting Donald LeRoy Barrett in the Columbia Valley they married May 26 1947 settling down in Wilmar they had their 3 children Vivian (Harold), Connie (Keith) and late son Donald (Norma) Ina had 5 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews. Ina was famous for her cooking she spent years cooking around the Valley, including Jesses in Radium Hot Springs, and Skookum Inn in Windermere. She made some of the best buns and soups with home made noodles, she was always a phone call away when we needed a recipe, but never much help as she didn't follow recipes herself. Ina always had candies, chocolates, or homemade goodies and an ice-cold beer for her visitors, often sending her guests home with something she had made. Ina had a passion for cards, Rummy, Gin or Dice and really enjoyed the odd trip to the Casino to see if she could turn her twenty into hundreds. You could always find her at home, reading a good book, or visiting with her dear friends. Ina will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A celebration of life for Ina will be held in Mid June.
