Penny Joy Holmberg "PUH"
Penny was born on April 26, 1949 in Fernie, B.C. She passed away on July 28, 2019 in the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.
As a child she lived in the Wardner, Bull River area. In 1963 her family moved to Cranbrook. In 1966 she met her soulmate and love of her life Alfred. They were married in March 1967. Penny took on the task of a bratty 3-year-old named Debbie who she adored. Penny and Al moved to Kitimat where their daughter Violet was born. They moved to Terrace where their son Don was born. They lived in Terrace area for 10 years. They moved back to Cranbrook to be closer to family. Penny's big accomplishment was going back to school in her late 30's to graduate and she did it.
Penny and Al loved camping. Many memories were made for all of us with them. Penny cared for many other children who she still cared for and who cared for her.
Penny was a 22-year member of The Scandinavians of The East Kootenay. She was very proud to belong to the lodge.
Penny was the best and most loving Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Friend to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her Pride and Joy.
Through the years Penny showed her family and friends her great strength, determination and her zest for life with her many years of battling cancer. She was an inspiration and hero to many people.
We will miss her dearly.
Penny is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Allen/Ozzy), Violet (Russ), her son Don (Vikki), 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, brothers Roy (Dianne), Buz, sister's Elaine (Brian), Linda (Ed), Violet (Hedord). She is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
