Obituary of Doreen Iris Wright

1925 - 2012

On Tuesday, July 17, 2012, our mom, Doreen Wright (nee Ling) passed away with her children by her side.

Mom was born on June 21, 1925 in Nelson, B.C., to Alexander and Anna May Ling. She was the youngest of 10 children, with 5 sisters and 4 brothers, Doreen grew up in Nelson and worked for the Nelson Daily News before she met and married our dad, Corry Wright in 1951.

Corry and Doreen stayed in Nelson until 1961 when they moved to Cranbrook to raise their 5 children. Later, in 1979, they moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta. Mom returned to Cranbrook in 1984 to be closer to her family.

Mom was a true lover of the outdoors. She loved to walk, work in her gardens and spend time at the lake with her family camping.

She will be missed by her sister Mary (Bill) Vickers; her children, Corinne (Rob) Neil, Michael (Terrie) Wright, Kathy (Ron) Nickell, Lisa (Bob) Latham, Lorrie Wright (Thor Wolpert); her grandchildren, Michael (Marnie) Larsen, Kevin (Katherine) Larsen, Ryan and Mark Nickell, Regin and Triona Wolpert, and her great grandson Graeden Larsen. Doreen is predeceased by her husband Corry, her grandson Daryl Larsen, her parents and eight siblings.

A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Joseph Creek Care Village for their loving care of our mother over the last seven years.
