My Dad, Donald Edward Green, was the most wonderful man I have ever known! I have missed him every second of the past 415 days that he has been gone. My Dad was the hardest worker I have ever seen, working almost everyday since the age of 10, first to support his siblings and than to support his own family. He was a wonderful father who always made me feel loved. I miss you so much Dad, I would give anything for one more of those huge tight hugs of yours or even just to hear your voice. I will think of you every day for the rest of my life.
Your heart-broken daughter, Cheryl

I was just a young boy, when uncle Don packed up his family and moved from Cole Harbour Nova Scotia to Calgary Alberta. So I have only a few memories over the 30 plus years that he has been gone , however there is one memory that I remember as it was yesterday. I was around 12 or 13 when Uncle Done suggested to his brother Roy that I come to Calgary for a visit. My parents thought that would be a great idea however they told me that I would have to save up spending money. I remember working all winter delivery early morning news papers, in all sorts of weather. It seemed like forever saving up a 100.00 so I would have money for when I arrived there. I flew up that summer and would be there for almost a month. So shortly after arriving I went with Uncle Don to the pasture where he had his two horses. Upon arriving Uncle Don quickly realized that one of his horese Misty was missing. Once it was determined that Misty had somehow got over the fence, the search was on. Uncle Don asked me if I had been on a horse before, being a teenager whe knows everything I said sure lots of times ( twice). He asked if I have ever riden bare back, and again I said yes ( never). So he hooked up a bridel and said you ride along the fence, and he would take the truck and drive along the outer side of the pasture. So Uncle Don helped me up onto the horse, with in a second I was off the horse and on the ground. Uncle Don stood there and begun to laugh. So up I got and attempted to get in on the horse one more time, and again I was on the ground and again Uncle Don stood there laughing. So it was decided I would ride in the truck with him. So I slowly walked to the truck and got in, still in pain from falling but was not going to tell him that. Once we pulled the truck out of the pasture, he looked at me and asked me to go and close the gate. I jumped out of the truck and ran too the gate an closed it. Now I am not sure exactly how this happened but while returning to the truck I some how ran into the side mirror knocking me down once again to the ground. I bet you can guess what Uncle Don did this time, yes he laughed, and yes at this point I was seeing stars.
All though the Green family from Nova Scotia are unable to attend the funeral services our thoughts are with our Calagary family. Uncle Don I will always love and remember you and will never forget my time in Calgary with you.........
