Heather, Jason, Jennifer and families: We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Don's passing, having just seen him the week before. Over the last several years, we spent many hours with Don, enjoying blues music, beers, and some spirited discussions. During our last visit together, he was showing us photos on his phone of the grandchildren and telling us stories about his time with them at the cabin and going on different outings. Don was very proud of all of you. We will miss him deeply. - Chuck and Allyson Ramsay

Don loved curling, he wasn't very good, but he loved curling. Don loved talking politics, he was rarely correct, but he loved talking politics. Don loved his family, friends, beer and jokes, Don was very good at these things. I will miss him dearly. Cam Foran

How sad that the Stantec family has lost one of its prominent and well-liked staff. During my tenure as the vice president of environmental Services I got to know Don very well and could always count on him for opinions on sensitive issues or insight on new business opportunities. Don was a pleasure to work with and he will me missed by many, both within Stantec and beyond. Our thoughts are with Don's family. Don and I worked together in the environmental industry for many years, shared many tee times, many chuckles and not a few tongue-in-cheek rants, mostly about Canadian politics. And if I wanted to engage in conversation I learned that all I had to do was mention Don Cherry! It was obvious to everyone he was very family oriented, loved his children and dedicated himself to young people through coaching hockey and other activities. I have many fond memories of times we shared and was saddened to learn of his recent passing. My sincerest condolences to his family. Doug Meeking, Ottawa

Don and I worked closely together for over 17 years in the environmental consulting industry, played golf together, shared family stories as our kids grew up, discussed hockey strategies as our boys worked their way through minor hockey and, of course chatted about our views on the politics of the day. Don was a bit right of centre and he was never short of a clear view of things political. His friendship and comradery will be missed by all who knew him.
